(PLAINVIEW, NY – April 16, 2024)—Globall Sports Centers recently had plans approved by the Nassau County Legislature to expand its public-private partnership with the County of Nassau to include state-of-the-art lighted outdoor athletic fields at the Mitchel Athletic Complex.

Two 80,000 square-foot fields will be constructed adjacent to Globall Sports Centers existing indoor operation transforming the County’s Butler Building into one of the first indoor/outdoor multi-sports and entertainment destinations for County residences.

Providing a quality playing facility for athletes of all ages and skill levels, the outdoor fields, which can be used for a multitude of sports, from soccer and football to lacrosse, field hockey and more, will provide much-needed space for Nassau County’s many athletes.

Following the vote, Globall Sports Centers, which is led by Principal Mitchell Rechler, a co-founder of Rechler Equity Partners in Plainview, and Principal and Operating Partner Peter Zaratin, will finalize a master site plan with a selected civil engineer firm prior to starting construction upon County permit approvals this summer.

“Given Long Island’s finite amount of available open space, municipalities and developers must look for ways to redevelop underutilized land and facilities for the betterment of our communities and economy,” said Globall Principal Mitchell Rechler. “That is exactly what we have done with this facility. This underused land at the Mitchel Athletic Complex will now be transformed to a destination for athletes and spectators across Long Island,” he added.

The Mitchel Athletic Complex, near the Nassau County Hub is a 49-acre facility that hosts a wide array of youth, high school, collegiate and professional sporting events.

“The approval of these two new fields at the Mitchel Athletic Complex is the latest example in our investment in the Hub, county assets and most importantly, our young people,” said Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman. “We take pride in our efforts to provide our youth with quality facilities to take part in the activities they love.”

“The Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums is thrilled to build on our existing partnership with Globall Sports Centers,” said Department Commissioner Darcy Belyea. “Between the Mitchel Athletic Complex and Eisenhower Park, Nassau County residents are able to take part in a wide array of events and activities at our facilities.”

Renovations also include transformation of Butler Building into a multi-functional facility, converting a simple training venue into a multi-sport family entertaining center, complimenting the facility’s instructional sports programs, leagues for various youth and adults, special events and more.  The new outdoor fields will expand the facility footprint from 25,500 square foot to 250,000, adding to the company’s efforts to provide quality facilities for athletes.

“Soccer has been steadily growing on Long Island and across the United States in recent years, and with its popularity set to increase exponentially due to the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics, Globall wants to give children and adults across Nassau County the chance to be part of the game,” said Globall Principal and Managing Partner Peter Zaratin. “We are thrilled to have been given the green light by the Nassau County Legislature to continue this process and thank County Executive Bruce Blakeman for his partnership.”
